Waterworks
Specific measures required
Waterworks play an essential role in society as one of the fundamental infrastructures supporting communities and economic activity.
Recently, however, due to changes in Japanese society (such as the decreasing population and resulting reduction of water consumption), new needs and expectations have developed, requiring further safety and stability measures for waterworks and improvements to help protect the environment.
It is necessary to:
>  Prevent water quality deterioration at the water supply source (e.g. reduction of
    micro-organisms) and water shortages

>  Renew pipeline and water purification plants

>  Strengthen pipeline and water purification plants against earthquakes

>  Reduce operating costs through better efficiency (e.g. use of new techniques to
    reduce purification processing times)

>  Improve the balance between revenue and expenditure, and encourage cooperation
    between municipalities to standardize business

>  Reduce the environmental load
